I choose Matilda because it is my favourite book. I hope you like what I created. Please leave me some feedback on how to improve.

  1. Kia ora Maia, this is Kieryn from the Summer Learning Journey.
Thank you for participating in the Summer Learning Journey and sharing with us this book cover which you designed for Roald Dahl’s book ‘Matilda’.
The layout you have created is outstanding, and it is awesome how you remembered to include all of the necessary information like the author, illustrator, and name of the book!
Using a bookshelf as the main image of this cover was a fantastic idea as it reiterates what this book is about; a bright young girl who is eager to learn.
I see you have included lots of different books on top of the bookshelf such as ‘The Wishing Chair’ series, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Gangsta Granny’. Are these some of your other favourite books?
Roald Dahl is one of my favourite authors, and I thoroughly enjoy the way he is able to paint such vivid pictures in my head from his use of description. Every single one of his books includes such wild and wacky characters who make it that much more enjoyable to read.
Have you read any of Roald Dahl’s other books? If so, which ones did you like and why?
‘Matilda’ is such a fantastic book that it was made into a movie in 1996, and was released as a musical in 2011.
I was lucky enough to be able to go and see ‘Matilda’ the musical when it was being performed live at the Civic Theatre in Auckland during 2017. It was an outstanding performance filled with lots of singing and dancing, and I was glued to my seat for the entire show.
Have you ever watched a musical live? If so, what musical was it?
    Keep up the excellent work!
    Nga mihi
