On 19 September 1893 the governor, Lord Glasgow, signed a new Electoral Act into law. New Zealand became the first self-governing country in the world in which women had the right to vote in parliamentary elections.

This place is on The North Island of New Zealand has a place named Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu. Is a 1,000-foot hill near the township Porangahau holds the Guinness World Record for longest place name with 85 characters.

There are 49 different wildlife sanctuaries spread out around New Zealand that is an incredible amount.

There are no snakes in New Zealand which means a great place to come to if you are scared of snakes. It has also very little if any at all wild cats in the wild.
5.
New Zealand speaks 3 languages. Maori, Sign language and English.

ReplyDeleteSome great facts about NZ. I can say the place name...just very slowly! Does that count? Having no snakes here is a very big bonus. Have you been to any of the Wildlife Sanctuaries? There is a wonderful one in Dunedin called Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Well done on a well set out, well explain and interesting blog post.

What is your favourite thing about New Zealand? Could you imagine living anywhere else when you're older? There is so much to explore in Aotearoa, it really is a beautiful country! We are very lucky to live here.
Did you know, English is not an official language of New Zealand. I remember all my friends and I were so shocked when we discovered this! Only te reo (Maori) and Sign Language.
